Our journey with the DirectRoaster began in an unexpected place: the world of distillation. At iStill, we revolutionized alcohol distilling with energy-efficient, high-tech solutions, which redefined an industry that was limited by traditional principles for hundreds of years. We are people with an innovative mindset and our curiosity didn’t stop there.

We couldn’t help but question the efficiency of machinery in other industries. We are coffee lovers sparking the idea: could we do the same thing with roasting what we did in distilling?. The answer is YES! Machines had looked and operated in a similar manner for decades, with only minor improvements here and there. They are often working with inefficient principles that result in difficult temperature controls, and unnecessary energy waste. Surely, this is not the pinnacle of our capabilities in the 21st century, so we asked ourselves:

“What if we don’t just try to improve coffee roasting? What if we completely reimagined roasting?”

Instead of following tradition, we started from scratch. We did not dive deep into the technical details of how coffee roasters operate nowadays with the aim to finetune and build upon that. Our goal is to design the ultimate best product, clean sheet and NO resemblance to competitors – simply using a scientific approach based on our knowledge and today’s proven technology. We combined cutting-edge engineering with fresh thinking, designing a system that roasts beans with precision control, efficiency, and sustainability at its core. Resulting in:
